ON MAY 14, 1977, a fearsomely brave captain in the Grenadier Guards called Robert Nairac was trying to infiltrate the Provisional IRA in a bar in South Armagh, then known as Bandit Country. He was unmasked, captured and driven south of the border into Ravensdale Woods. There, he was hideously tortured for two days then murdered....
